The Nelson Tasman Hospice: Specialist Equipment

The Nelson Tasman Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for residents of the Nelson Tasman Region with life limiting illnesses.

A major part of the Hospice’s service is bringing that care to patients in their own homes and providing them with free specialist equipment to support their comfort and/or mobility. Being able to provide this equipment allows patients to receive treatment while remaining in the comfort of their own homes surrounded by their loved ones.

The Care Foundation was able to support the great work the Hospice does in the community by funding the purchase of a state-of-the-art therapeutic Airmattress for patients at risk of pressure injuries together with a specialist bed designed to optimise patient comfort and ease their mobility in and out of bed with electronic handsets to lower, rise and fold the bed.
