Extending Influenza Vaccination in Top of the South

Care Foundation Funding Focus – Health For All

The 2018 influenza season was expected to have high activity in New Zealand based on the experience of the Northern Hemisphere and funding was needed to increase the number of people (particularly high need groups) vaccinated in the Top of the South.  The Care Foundation funded vaccinations at thirteen special clinics held in the Victory, Tahunanui, Motueka, Seddon and Ward Communities, at Seniors Expo, Te Piki Oranga and the Marlborough Health Hub.  Amongst the 400 vaccinated were children with chronic conditions and their whanau along with mental health patients, over 65’s and others with chronic health conditions who would not have been able to access vaccinations without Care Foundation providing them for free.

Due to the success of the 2018 campaign, The Care Foundation will again be supporting Influenza Vaccinations in the Region in 2019.
