What is the money used for?

The funds we are currently holding are mostly all previous donations tagged for specific purposes within the health communities of Nelson and Marlborough.  Any health related organisations throughout Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough are welcome to apply for funds.

Who identifies the projects supported by The Care Foundation?

There are 2 main groupings – first are internal applications we receive from hospital staff at both the Nelson and Wairau hospitals.  The second is a health experts group set up which includes the DHB’s CE, community Health representatives and health professionals. They will help us identify and prioritise key healthcare projects in our communities.

If I’m to donate as a business or sponsor – where does my money go?

The money will be held in trust by The Care Foundation. We may approach you as a local business to partner up with us for a specific project that has been identified – your funds will go in their entirely to that project and you will be recognised by the trust for your contribution (see attached sponsor benefits table in proposal).

Who operates the Care Foundation?

The Care Foundation originally was a Charitable Trust set up by the Nelson and Marlborough DHB to look after donations to hospital departments.  It now operates under the banner of the NMDHB but is a totally separate registered Charitable Trust with independent trustees. The Care Foundation is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees. There is a paid employee of one person that manages the trust.
